My early stage into sculpture came from my search for expressing vacuum. This led me to experiment with metal mesh until it became my means of expression, transforming and considering sculptural material. I rely on the space-light relationship, and on the shadows projected by the works themselves, which become changing compositional elements.
My ethics are based on essentiality, and my aesthetics on diversity, using a highly refined technique as a link between the two.
The research project I am working on, and its common thread, focuses on transformation through continuous change. Nothing remains the same; energy with constant activity destroying and creatingas it confronts reality and the passage of time.
The sculptures I make are lived experiences; they are part of me, of my soul. I work with an abstract concept, sculptural construction, combined with chance, with which I redirect and then decide spontaneously as to the dynamic action to take.
With the Trails series I express the cycle of life and its decisions by entering a world of experiences, sensations and transformations that lead us to reconnect with the origin of our primal essence. With the Jumble series, I delve into the pain of death and the sense of loss; on the one hand, the loss of a loved one, and on the other, the loss of oneself.
The É – Panta rei series combines the experience of the “Trails series” and the “Jumbles series” created in recent years, and I have chosen to experience an inner transformation made from love and freedom to value the dignity of each individual, feeling that “everything flows, nothing stops” in this vital experience of continuous change.
In Transit series is the natural evolution of the É – Panta rei , which I incorporate the final elements of the former series and introduce new dimensions. It marks the end of one creative cycle and the beginning of another, in which introspection and exploration have guided my work and where I question and redefine my sculptural language, playing with space, shadows, vacuum and the essential. Like a chrysalis preparing to fly. This stage is an interlude charged with energy in which I experience a process of renewal.
This evolutionary path leads to the Re-encounter series where I address the intrinsic essence of myself.
The mirror stands as a witness and catalyst for this metamorphosis, reflecting not only the surface image but also inviting an immersive experience that triggers self-awareness and liberation from the shackles of a pre-established identity. Thus, I invite the observer to an introspective journey, in which each work is a ritual of change, a call to leave behind the known and to embrace the essential and the transcendent.
The concept ‘To Burn is To Rise Again’, symbolises a new beginning from my own renaissance. This is embodied by the interaction with metal mesh which, when burned, symbolises purification, inner introspection and freedom.
In the Ethereal sculptures, I present the curve and the material stripped of artifice, naked, revealing the most intimate aspects of the creative process. The three-dimensional nature of the pieces offers the viewer the possibility to explore them from multiple angles, discovering how this direct manipulation of matter not only shapes space, but also exposes a deep search for renewal. Each form acts as an echo of the inner emptiness: a gesture of authenticity that invites those who observe to confront their own identity.
